Nuggets, dates to know & more from the Alabama recruiting trail heading into the holiday weekend
The calm before the storm some would say. It should be a relatively quiet weekend in Tuscaloosa as the coaching staff gears up for what looks to be an extremely busy official visitor season.
Bama247 has confirmed multi-day trips for roughly 30 prospects. Some have commitment dates set, others an idea of when they’ll make a decision and a few have Alabama at the top of their list heading into their summer.
May 31 – June 2 marks the first weekend of official visitors for the Crimson Tide and the staff will host prospects for the next four weeks through June 21-23.
Bama247 will be providing complete coverage throughout the next several weeks as more visitors will hit campus, more offers will be extended and the 2025 board becomes more clear.
There’s still plenty going on. I compiled notes, nuggets and rumblings from the last few days into one write-up for some easy reading to take you into Memorial Day weekend.
Have a question? Ask away! Enjoy the long weekend!
No one knows better than Alabama about making the College Football Playoff. In the 10-year, four-team era. Alabama made it into the playoff eight times, played for the championship six times, and won the title three times, all records.
Now we enter a new era, the 12-team affair with the top four ranked by the CFP selection committee having a first round bye, teams 5-8 hosting elimination games on their home campuses (or designated site), 5 vs. 12, 6 vs. 11, 7 vs. 10, and 8 vs. 9.
The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the five highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The seven highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format. The almost certainty is that the champions of the Power Four conferences – Southeastern, Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12 – will be joined by the highest ranked champion of a Group of Five conference. Independents (i.e., Notre Dame and Pac-12 left-behinds, Washington State and Oregon State), will not be eligible for a first round bye.
