Virginia Tech football bolsters defensive line with commitment from Alabama transfer
The Virginia Tech football team got a lot of retainment following the 2023 seaosn on both sides of the ball. Defensively, Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Josh Fuga announced that they were returning along the defensive line. That didn’t stop head coach Brent Pry from building depth in the transfer portal with Duke transfer Aeneas Peebles, Kemari Copeland from Iowa Western Community College and Oklahoma transfer Kelvin Gilliam.
Tuesday night, Pry got a massive commitment from an Alabama transfer to bring another option for opposing teams to game plan for next season as well and makes the defensive line one of the deepest in the ACC.
Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry commits to Virginia Tech
Recently, Virginia Tech hosted Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry for a visit and it appears that they won him over as he committed to the Hokies Tuesday night according to Pete Thamel giving Pry and his staff and defensive unit another good defensive lineman. Perry chose Virginia Tech over Indiana, Wisconsin, and Louisville.
Perry was the 54th overall prospect in the Class of 2022 according to 247Sports and he was considered a four-star prospect out of high school. His evaluation out of high school by 247Sports can be found here.
Along with the players mentioned above, Pry also added offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham from Georgia State and linebacker Sam Brumfield from Middle Tennessee State. Last month, Virginia Tech got a commitment from quarterback Collin Schlee from UCLA after Dylan Wittke entered the spring transfer portal and committed to Minnesota for the 2024 season.
