Sidney Crosby Vows to Retire as a Pittsburgh Penguin

Sidney Crosby has reaffirmed his commitment to the Pittsburgh Penguins, vowing to finish his career with the franchise that drafted him first overall in 2005. The 37-year-old captain, who signed a two-year contract extension in September 2024, made it clear that he has no intention of playing for another team.

“I’ve never thought about playing anywhere else,” Crosby said in a recent interview. “Pittsburgh is home, and I want to finish what I started here.”

Crosby’s legacy with the Penguins is unmatched. Over nearly two decades, he has led the team to three Stanley Cup championships (2009, 2016, 2017) and cemented his place as one of the greatest players in NHL history. Despite his age, Crosby continues to be a top performer, proving he still has plenty left in the tank.

His contract extension ensures he will remain in Pittsburgh through at least the 2026-27 season. While some speculate he could play beyond that, Crosby is focused on the present, determined to bring another championship to the Penguins.

Fans and teammates alike are thrilled with his loyalty. “He’s the heart and soul of this team,” said teammate Kris Letang. “It wouldn’t feel right seeing him in another jersey.”

As Crosby’s career winds down, one thing is certain: he will retire as a Pittsburgh Penguin, just as he always intended.
