Tragic News: Corbin Burnes has announce is departure following an argument with…..

The Baltimore Orioles are expected to resume their strong performance in the latter half of the season, similar to how they played earlier, before pitching injuries took a toll on the team. Initially, with the acquisition of Corbin Burnes, a former NL Cy Young winner, during the winter, their rotation appeared solid. Burnes, alongside Kyle Bradish and Grayson Rodriguez, were set to lead the top three spots.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse when Bradish, John Means, and Tyler Wells all required season-ending surgeries. This series of injuries caused the Orioles’ performance to decline noticeably leading up to the All-Star break and slightly afterward. Despite these setbacks, their recent trade deadline deals have bolstered the roster, providing a chance to regain their footing, secure a top spot in the American League, and potentially clinch their division.

Unfortunately, the Orioles will face this challenge without Jordan Westburg, who suffered a fractured hand in a game on Wednesday. Losing the 2024 All-Star, who was having a standout year, is a significant blow. However, the Orioles are well-equipped to handle such a loss, thanks to their robust farm system, often hailed as the best in baseball. This system boasts star prospects in Triple-A ready to step up to the Major League level, although their promotion has been delayed due to the team’s depth.

Now is the opportune moment for the Orioles to promote Coby Mayo. Mayo, ranked as the No. 3 prospect in their farm system and No. 15 overall, has yet to make his MLB debut despite impressive statistics. He has a batting average of .282, with 70 extra-base hits, 32 home runs, and 114 RBI over 137 Triple-A games. Mayo would be a fitting replacement for Westburg at third base, a position he has frequently played.

General Manager Mike Elias has previously mentioned Mayo and hinted that his debut could occur this season. Given the current circumstances, the time for Mayo’s debut should be now. At 22 years old, Mayo has demonstrated his capabilities in Triple-A. With Baltimore needing additional infield options, they should provide Mayo the opportunity to showcase his talent at the Major League level.
