Sad Story: Jane McDonald describe her reasons why she didn’t have children during ‘lonely’ marriage

TV star Jane McDonald once revealed why she did not have children during her marriage to Henrik Brixen. Known for her show “Cruising with Jane McDonald,” the popular TV personality described her marriage to Henrik, who was also her manager, as “lonely.” The couple was married from 1998 to 2003.

In her 2019 autobiography, “Riding The Waves: My Story,” Jane discussed the topic of having children. She mentioned that while she and Henrik had talked about starting a family, his plans for her career did not leave room for children. This contributed to her feeling lonely in their marriage.

Jane further elaborated on the dynamic of their relationship, explaining how it changed when Henrik became her manager. She said, “Your manager is your boss and tells you what to do, what to wear and who to be, so our relationship changed. I loved him with all my heart, but felt he’d stopped looking at me as a wife. I became a product.”

In a 2018 interview with the Mirror, Jane clarified why she never speaks negatively about Henrik. She acknowledged that although he was originally a ship’s plumber before becoming her manager, he did his very best despite lacking industry experience. Jane recounted how Henrik eventually made many enemies within the industry and ultimately decided to leave her to protect her career. Henrik told her, “If I don’t leave you, you are never going to have a career.” Jane respected his decision and refrains from criticizing him because he chose to walk away from their marriage to save her career.

Jane’s reflections provide a glimpse into the personal sacrifices and challenges she faced in her marriage to Henrik, highlighting the complexities of balancing a professional relationship with a personal one. Her story emphasizes the impact of career demands on personal life and the difficult choices that sometimes have to be made.
