Official NFL News: Green Bay Packers has confirmed reaching a mutual agreement to sign a $208 million deal.

Eligible for a long-term extension, Love indicated that his agent has kept him informed about ongoing negotiations, expressing optimism about the progress. When asked if talks might intensify after the Packers’ minicamp, Love responded cautiously, “Yeah, I think they should.”

Last week, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst echoed similar optimism, stating, “We’d like to get this done before training camp for sure. Both parties want to get a contract extension done.”

Love has been actively participating in Packers’ OTAs, enhancing his standing within the organization as discussions with the team edge closer to a resolution. His impressive performance during the 2023 season, where he threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns, has also bolstered his case for a new deal, surpassing numbers Aaron Rodgers achieved in his early seasons.

Despite these strides, Love acknowledged areas for improvement, particularly in decision-making and pocket presence. Reflecting on last season’s playoff exit with two interceptions, Love highlighted his focus on refining these aspects during the offseason.

Assuming negotiations conclude successfully, this would mark Love’s second extension with the Packers, following a one-year extension last May. With more than a year passed since that adjustment, Love is now free to negotiate a new deal at any time.

The landscape of quarterback contracts in the NFL, notably Jared Goff’s recent deal resetting expectations, adds intrigue to Love’s negotiations. Other young quarterbacks like Dak Prescott, Tua Tagovailoa, and Trevor Lawrence are also awaiting new contracts, shaping the timing and dynamics of these negotiations.

If Love’s extension proceeds first, it could potentially surpass Goff’s recent deal, underscoring the Packers’ commitment to continuing their quarterback success. Despite ongoing negotiations, both Love and the Packers appear optimistic about reaching a new agreement soon.
