Daniel Ricciardo Gives ‘Not So Much Result-driven Update on His F1 Future**
Amid fresh speculation about his F1 future, Daniel Ricciardo is determined to stay in Formula 1 into 2025, even if it means remaining with Red Bull’s sister team, AlphaTauri.
Ricciardo, currently one of seven drivers yet to score points this season, was expected to outperform his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. However, Tsunoda has consistently outqualified and outscored Ricciardo, leading to questions about Ricciardo’s future with the team.
Despite the diminishing possibility of replacing Sergio Perez at Red Bull next season, Ricciardo remains open to continuing with AlphaTauri. “I’m enjoying the driving now; it’s not so much result-driven,” he told Speedcafe. While he aims to earn a seat with a more competitive team, he acknowledges that racing at the front for podiums and wins is more enjoyable.
Reflecting on his return to F1, Ricciardo said he came back because he believes he can still compete for podiums and wins. As long as he retains that belief, he is content to continue racing. He aspires to stand on the podium a few more times before eventually retiring.
Rumors persist about Ricciardo’s seat being on the line, with an Italian publication suggesting he has until the summer break to prove his worth. This follows recent denials that he had until Miami to save his seat or risk being replaced by Liam Lawson.
Despite the pressure, Ricciardo remains focused and confident. “I want to make people proud and remind some people that two races are not career-defining,” he said, emphasizing his resilience and desire to prove himself.
