Latest News: Celtic ‘would finish in Premier League’s top Two’ with club ‘absolutely massive’

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his delight over the club’s Scottish Premiership title win, emphasizing the significant financial benefits it brings through Champions League participation. Rodgers believes that if Celtic were to join England’s Premier League, they would rank among the top six teams.

The Northern Irish manager highlighted the importance of direct entry into the revamped Champions League, which now includes two additional matches, allowing the club to secure substantial funds as they aim to make a significant impact in European football.

In the 2023/24 season, Celtic earned over £30 million from the Champions League, a figure expected to increase considerably with the introduction of new revenue streams. Speaking on talkSPORT, Rodgers reflected on the significance of winning their third consecutive Premiership title, stating, “That’s why the league was so important for us this year. Especially with the new format, financially more rewarding, it’s the best opportunity the club can get to make substantial funds. And, clearly, from a football perspective, it’s brilliant to go and test yourselves at that level.”

Rodgers also discussed Celtic’s standing in British football, suggesting that competing in the Premier League would significantly boost the club’s profile. He remarked, “Celtic and Rangers, and I can only talk from a Celtic perspective, are absolutely massive. If Celtic were in the Premier League, it would be up there and, minimum, that top six bracket. You would need a 100,000-seater stadium. It is absolutely incredible, wherever you go in the world you will meet Celtic supporters. The fanbase, the history of the club, that’s what makes it a truly special club.”

Rodgers’ comments highlight the club’s potential to thrive in a more competitive environment while underscoring the unique attributes that make Celtic a globally recognized and cherished football team.
