Hailie Deegan, a prominent figure in American motorsports, has recently made headlines with a significant career transition. At 23, Deegan announced her move from NASCAR to the Indy NXT series for the 2025 season, joining HMD Motorsports. This shift marks a new chapter in her racing journey, as she ventures into open-wheel racing after years in stock car competitions.

 

Deegan decision to switch disciplines follows a challenging period in NASCAR. Despite early successes in the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Truck Series, she faced difficulties securing top-tier opportunities in the Xfinity Series. Her best finish in the 2024 season was 12th place at Talladega Superspeedway. Recognizing the need for a fresh start, Deegan embraced the opportunity to join Indy NXT, the developmental series for IndyCar.

 

Joining HMD Motorsports, Deegan will pilot the No. 38 car in a full 14-race season.
