South Carolina Gamecocks Look to Regain Form Ahead of Elite Eight Clash with Duke

Despite advancing to the Elite Eight, the South Carolina Gamecocks were not satisfied with their performance in the Sweet Sixteen. The top-seeded team, known for its dominance, admitted that they did not play up to their usual standard in their latest victory. Now, with a high-stakes matchup against Duke looming on Sunday, the Gamecocks are focused on correcting their mistakes and rediscovering their rhythm.

Following the game, standout guard Raven Johnson addressed the team’s struggles, emphasizing the need for better chemistry moving forward. “We know we didn’t play our best,” Johnson admitted. “We have to get back in sync, communicate better, and play as one unit. Duke is a strong team, and we can’t afford to be out of rhythm.”

South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley echoed Johnson’s sentiments, acknowledging that while a win is always the goal, the team must raise its level of play to continue its championship pursuit. “We found a way to win, but we have to be sharper,” Staley said. “This time of year, every possession matters. We have to be more disciplined and execute at a higher level.”

The Gamecocks have been a powerhouse all season, but their latest performance has given them a renewed sense of urgency. With Duke standing in their way, South Carolina is determined to reestablish the chemistry that has made them one of the most formidable teams in women’s college basketball. Sunday’s showdown will be a true test of their resilience and ability to rise to the occasion.
