South Carolina Defeats Indiana in Second Round of NCAA Tournament 64-53…..

The South Carolina Gamecocks continued their dominant run in the NCAA Women’s Tournament, securing a 64-53 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in the second round. The win propels Dawn Staley’s squad into the Sweet 16, keeping their national title hopes alive.

South Carolina’s defense set the tone early, forcing Indiana into difficult shots and limiting their offensive rhythm. The Gamecocks held Indiana to just 35% shooting from the field, using their size and athleticism to control the paint. Center Kamilla Cardoso was a force on both ends, recording a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while adding three blocks to anchor the defense.

On the offensive end, South Carolina showcased its balanced attack. Guard Raven Johnson played a pivotal role, scoring 16 points and dishing out five assists, while senior forward Chloe Kitts contributed 12 points and six rebounds. The Gamecocks’ ability to dominate the boards and convert second-chance opportunities proved to be the difference.

Indiana fought hard behind star forward Mackenzie Holmes, who led the Hoosiers with 19 points and eight rebounds. However, turnovers and South Carolina’s relentless defense ultimately stifled Indiana’s comeback efforts. Despite a late push in the fourth quarter, the Hoosiers couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Dawn Staley praised her team’s resilience after the game. “Indiana is a tough opponent, but we stayed disciplined and played our game,” she said. “I’m proud of how we handled the pressure.”

With this victory, South Carolina advances to the Sweet 16, where they will face another tough challenge. As they continue their pursuit of a national championship, the Gamecocks look poised for another deep tournament run.
