Just In: Done Deal’ Orioles has Signed a Veteran Morton’s of $15 Million to Replace…..

The Baltimore Orioles have bolstered their pitching depth by signing 41-year-old veteran right-hander Charlie Morton. Despite having around ten potential candidates for their starting rotation, the team lacks a true ace. Morton’s addition comes after the Orioles failed to secure Corbin Burnes, who chose to join the Arizona Diamondbacks. Morton, an experienced and accomplished major league pitcher, brings valuable skills to the team, even though he is 11 years older than Burnes.

Since December, the Orioles have added two seasoned right-handers to their roster. Along with Morton, the team signed 35-year-old Tomoyuki Sugano, a former standout in Japanese professional baseball. These signings aim to provide stability and experience to the pitching staff as the Orioles look to strengthen their competitive edge.

In total, the Orioles have signed four major league free agents over the past month, investing $86 million in these acquisitions. The signings include Morton, Sugano, outfielder Tyler O’Neill, and catcher Gary Sánchez. These moves reflect the team’s efforts to address various needs on their roster, bringing in a mix of veteran leadership and proven performance.

While the absence of a dominant ace remains a concern, the Orioles appear focused on building depth and versatility, hoping this strategy will pay dividends in the upcoming season. Morton’s $15 million deal highlights the team’s commitment to fortifying its rotation and remaining competitive in a challenging division.
