Deal Done: Mets Reportedly Reunite with Sean Manaea on 3-year, $75 Million Deal Following Career Year After……

The New York Mets have bolstered their starting rotation by reportedly re-signing left-hander Sean Manaea to a three-year, $75 million contract, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The deal, finalized early Monday morning, reunites the Mets with a key contributor to their 2024 campaign.

Manaea, who turns 33 in February, had a standout season with New York in 2024, achieving career-best numbers. Over 32 starts and 181 2/3 innings, he posted a 3.47 ERA and recorded 184 strikeouts, marking the lowest ERA and the highest innings pitched of his career. His previous career-high performance came during his 2018 season with the Oakland Athletics, where he managed a 3.59 ERA across 160 1/3 innings.

Manaea originally joined the Mets on a two-year, $28 million deal before the 2024 season, which included an opt-out clause after the first year. Following his impressive performance, he exercised that opt-out and entered free agency. The decision proved lucrative, as his new contract will pay him an average of $25 million annually, a significant increase from the $14 million per year he earned under his previous deal.

Manaea’s return strengthens a Mets rotation led by Kodai Senga, who is expected to assume the role of ace, and right-hander Frankie Montas, who signed a two-year, $34 million deal with the team earlier this month. The rotation will also include returning starters David Peterson and Tylor Megill, both of whom played pivotal roles in 2024. The addition of Manaea reinforces the Mets’ push for sustained competitiveness in the upcoming season.
