Martin Truex Jr. has expressed his intent to compete in the upcoming Daytona 500 in February, with Cole Pearn expected to serve as his crew chief. However, he does not foresee this venture taking place under the 23XI Racing banner, despite initial discussions.

The original plan for Truex’s Daytona 500 appearance was proposed as a collaborative effort between 23XI Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). However, the specifics of this arrangement now appear uncertain. Truex has indicated that the situation remains unresolved and that he is waiting for more clarity on how it will be executed.

“I’m not sure what they’re doing, honestly,” Truex admitted when asked about the current status of the project. “Kind of up in the air. I just told Gibbs, JGR is doing it somehow, so, we’ll see.”

This uncertainty highlights the challenges of coordinating between two prominent NASCAR organizations for such a high-profile event. Truex’s participation in the Daytona 500 has been a subject of intrigue, given his extensive experience and previous success in the Cup Series. His reunion with Cole Pearn as crew chief adds another layer of interest, as the duo previously enjoyed considerable achievements during their time together.

While Truex remains optimistic about entering the Daytona 500, the exact details of the effort and the teams involved are still being finalized. Fans and industry observers alike will be eager to see how this collaboration unfolds as the iconic race approaches.
