New York State Police are conducting an extensive search for a woman who was reportedly seen entering the Niagara River above Niagara Falls, an event coming only a week after another tragic incident in which a mother and her two children went over the falls.

Witnesses reported seeing this unidentified woman in the water on Goat Island, close to Horseshoe Falls, which is the largest of the three main waterfalls at Niagara Falls. This sighting was made on Wednesday around 2 p.m., prompting immediate response from law enforcement.

State Police detailed their search efforts, which began swiftly after they were alerted to the incident. New York State Park Police deployed drones to scan the area from above, while officers also conducted searches on foot along the gorge. Additionally, authorities organized visual sweeps from several observation points overlooking the falls, hoping to locate the missing woman.

The recent events have brought considerable concern, given their proximity to each other in both location and timing. The previous week’s tragedy involved a mother and her two young children, sparking a strong response from the local community and prompting police to monitor the area with heightened caution. Now, officials are focused on locating this woman and investigating the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, although additional details about her identity or motives remain unavailable at this time. The search continues with hopes of quickly finding more answers regarding the mysterious situation.
