Crews are conducting an urgent search in turbulent waters for the bodies of Chianti Means, a 33-year-old mother, along with her two children, nine-year-old Roman Rossman and five-month-old Mecca Means. According to information from the police department, Means, originally from Niagara Falls near Buffalo, New York, climbed over guard rails at Luna Park with her children on Monday.
Surveillance footage from the park reportedly shows the children going over the railings first, followed by their mother, as per the police statement. James O’Callaghan, a spokesperson from the State Park Police, noted that it didn’t seem like Means was in pursuit of her children when they fell into the water.
O’Callaghan addressed the incident in a press conference, emphasizing that investigators believe the act was intentional. He explained that based on the available evidence, authorities have reason to suspect this was a deliberate act rather than an accident.
The tragic incident has shaken the local community, and officials are working with divers and emergency response teams to recover the victims’ bodies. The search has been challenged by strong currents and difficult weather conditions, but efforts remain ongoing.
