Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark has been named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the period of August 15-25. This recognition adds to her already impressive season, having earned WNBA Rookie of the Month honors in both May and July.
During the Fever’s first three games after the Olympic break, Clark was a standout, ranking third in the WNBA for scoring, with an average of 25.0 points per game, along with 9.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per contest. Last week, she became the franchise’s rookie leader in made 3-point field goals with 81. Additionally, Clark broke the WNBA rookie record for assists, surpassing Ticha Penicheiro’s mark of 224, and joined Aliyah Boston and Tamika Catchings as the only Fever rookies to score at least 500 points in a season.
On August 16, Clark delivered a stellar performance in Indiana’s 98-89 win over the Phoenix Mercury, leading the team with 29 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds. This marked her 10th double-double of the season. She followed this with another strong showing against the Minnesota Lynx, scoring 23 points, along with eight assists and five rebounds. Clark has now recorded at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists in 11 games this season. She continues to lead the league in assists with 8.3 per game and is the top rookie in several categories, including scoring, steals, and minutes per game.
The Fever will return home after a two-game road stretch to face the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, with the game set to air on Bally Sports Indiana and NBA TV.
