Just In: Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History Against Minnesota Lynx after…

On Saturday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever faced off against Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx. The Fever had previously won their first game of the season series in July, but that victory was largely influenced by Collier’s absence.

In their second encounter, Clark once again made her mark in WNBA history. This achievement came in front of her idol, Maya Moore, whose Lynx jersey was retired during the game. With 1:33 left in the first quarter, Clark scored her fourth point on a mid-range jumper. This shot pushed her season total to 500 points, making her the fastest player in WNBA history to reach both 500 points and 200 assists in a single season, a record confirmed by StatMamba.

Notably, Clark is the first rookie in WNBA history to reach these milestones. She had already surpassed 200 assists earlier in the season, entering the game against the Lynx with 232 assists. Throughout her rookie year, Clark has shattered numerous records. Earlier in July, in a game against the New York Liberty, she became the first rookie to record a triple-double. Additionally, she set another record by dishing out 19 assists in a game against the Dallas Wings, the highest in a single game before the Olympic break.

For the 2024 season, Clark, the No. 1 overall pick, is averaging 17.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game over 35.2 minutes of play. Her stellar performance has positioned Indiana strongly to make the WNBA playoffs for the first time since 2016.
