Dan Roundfield, a former NBA All-Star, tragically drowned while helping his wife in Aruba.

The couple was swimming off the southeastern coast when they were caught in rough water.

Roundfield tried to assist his struggling wife, but was swept away by a strong current and his body was found 90 minutes later trapped by rocks underwater.

He was remembered as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Roundfield played 11 seasons in the NBA, notably with the Atlanta Hawks, and was known for his physical play and gentle nature.

Klay Thompson’s return to the Bay Area with his new team, the Dallas Mavericks, will be a highlight of the opening night of the 2024-25 Emirates NBA Cup schedule on November 12, when they face the Golden State Warriors.
