Riley Herbst is scheduled to make his fourth start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season at the Richmond Raceway, a four-turn, 0.75-mile oval located in Richmond, Virginia. This race marks the 400th lap event of the season and will be Austin Dillon’s sixth start of the year, with four of those being behind the wheel of the No. 16 Chevrolet.
The 2024 season has seen the first 22 races held at different venues, with Richmond Raceway being the first track to host a second event. Of the remaining 14 races on the schedule, 10 will take place at tracks that have already hosted events earlier in the season. During the first Richmond race in late March, which took place on Easter Sunday, Kaz Grala drove the No. 15 Ford and finished in 31st place, while Austin Dillon drove the No. 16 Chevrolet and finished in 29th.
Notably, there were no non-charter cars in that race, but this weekend will feature one. MBM Motorsports, which made its sixth appearance of the season during the Brickyard 400, will field the No. 66 Ford for Parker Retzlaff, marking his debut in the Cup Series. Retzlaff currently races full-time in the Xfinity Series for Jordan Anderson Racing. Additionally, Richard Childress Racing and Legacy Motor Club had expanded to three cars for the Brickyard 400, but both teams will return to their standard two charter entries for the upcoming race at Richmond.
