Phoenix Mercury star Natasha Cloud attended the WNBA All-Star game on July 20. After Team WNBA’s 117-109 win over Team USA, Cloud praised Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.
Cloud remarked, “I think we saw a young WNBA team ready to prove themselves… Caitlin (Clark) was excellent as the floor general, as usual.” She emphasized that while Clark is known for her scoring prowess, it is her vision and ability to enhance her teammates’ performance that truly sets her apart.
Clark ended the game with four points and 10 assists, setting a rookie record for the most assists in WNBA All-Star game history. She was just one assist short of matching Sue Bird’s overall All-Star Game record of 11, set in 2017. The rookie from Iowa started at the point for Team WNBA, alongside DeWanna Bonner, Nneka Ogwumike, Jonquel Jones, and All-Star MVP Arike Ogunbowale.
Throughout the season, Clark has showcased her exceptional passing abilities. She averages 17.1 points and 8.2 assists, leading the league in assists per game. Clark also set a WNBA record for the most assists in a single game, with 19 assists in a 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings on July 17.
Cloud observed that Clark’s talent for making her teammates better and her role as a true floor general have solidified her status as one of the league’s top players.
