“My mom passed away a few hours ago, peacefully and comfortably. The sadness of this loss is overshadowed by our immense gratitude for having her in our lives for so long,” said Bart Starr Jr.
Cherry Starr, who made her last visit to Green Bay in 2022 for a Packers Hall of Fame induction ceremony, was honored for her contributions to Rawhide Youth Services, which she co-founded with her late husband Bart Starr. Despite her health issues, she visited Rawhide before the induction, where she saw the new Starr Youth Home and attended the groundbreaking in 2021.
Alan Loux, President of Rawhide Youth Services, recalled, “It was an emotional day for all of us, seeing her proud of the progress at Rawhide. She beamed with joy as she interacted with the boys and staff.”

**Cherry Morton Starr, 89, passed away peacefully at her Birmingham home on February 27, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bart Starr (2019), and son Bret (1988). She is survived by her son Bart Starr Jr.
(Elaena), grandchildren Shannon (Ryan), Jenny, and Lisa, and six great-grandchildren (Bryan, Teddy, Violet, Dillon, Skyler, and Caden). She was also a mother figure to many more.**
Born in Ohio, Cherry moved to Montgomery, AL, where she attended Sidney Lanier High School and met her future husband, Bart. After attending Auburn University, Cherry married Bart and moved to Tuscaloosa before relocating to Green Bay, Wisconsin, for Bart’s football career. There, she developed deep ties with the community, often citing the generosity and kindness of Wisconsin residents.
