Sad News: WNBA Facing Intense Backlash Over Decision on Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Game

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are set for their 23rd game of the 2024 WNBA season, hosting the Washington Mystics on Wednesday. This will mark the third encounter between these two teams this year. Notably, the WNBA has scheduled the game for noon ET on a weekday, posing a challenge for many fans who will be at work and unable to watch.

Interestingly, the Fever versus Mystics game is not the only daytime game on Wednesday. There are three other games scheduled for midday, featuring the Chicago Sky, New York Liberty, and Las Vegas Aces. This unusual scheduling has sparked speculation among fans. Some believe it might be to avoid a scheduling conflict with the United States-Canada men’s basketball pre-Olympics scrimmage, which starts at 10:30 p.m. ET. Critics argue that the WNBA could have easily arranged the games at times that wouldn’t interfere with typical work hours for their fans.

However, the real reason for the midday games is that it coincides with the WNBA’s annual Camp Day. This event is designed to allow children attending summer camps in major cities to attend the games as part of their field trips. By scheduling games during the day, the league aims to engage younger audiences and provide an exciting outing for kids during their summer break.
