Sad News: O.G Anunoby of Knicks decline a controversial decision of $212 Million due to…

The New York Knicks secured a crucial part of their offseason by re-signing O.G. Anunoby to a five-year, $212 million contract. Anunoby, one of the top free agents available, was retained using the fifth-year contract option, keeping the elite 3-and-D forward with the team.

Anunoby’s teammates are thrilled not just for his skills on the court but also for the team dinners next year. On the “Roommates” podcast, Jalen Brunson joked that Anunoby will now be responsible for the bills at team dinners. Brunson mentioned that whether Anunoby is present or not, they can use his card for the expenses.

Josh Hart echoed this sentiment, noting that it’s an unwritten rule in the NBA for the highest-paid player to cover the tab. Anunoby is now the highest-paid Knick, earning a projected $36.6 million in 2024-25, outpacing Julius Randle’s $28.9 million and Brunson’s $24.9 million.

Brunson himself could soon surpass Anunoby’s salary, as he is eligible for a four-year, $156 million extension this summer. Next summer, Brunson could sign a five-year deal worth around $250 million, marking a significant raise for the All-NBA guard.

Brunson shared that he was astonished when he woke up from a nap, checked his phone, and saw the news of Anunoby’s contract. He later celebrated the signing on social media platform X.
