Done Deal: Weightman’s new contract worth $97.9 Million to secure his…..see details

Cody Weightman, the forward for the Western Bulldogs, has secured his future with the club by re-signing until the end of 2027. Weightman, who was drafted with the 15th pick in 2019, has shown impressive performance, kicking 119 goals in 68 games. He expressed his enthusiasm for staying with the team, stating it was an easy decision when the opportunity arose to extend his contract.

Weightman highlighted the team’s strong track record of performing well late in the season and expressed hope that they can play their best football in the coming weeks to secure a chance in September’s finals.

His decision to remain with the Bulldogs follows a spirited defense from the team’s coach, Luke Beveridge. This defense came in response to accusations from North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson, suggesting Weightman had been staging for free kicks. Beveridge criticized these claims and the disrespect shown towards Weightman by some journalists, calling for greater respect for the young forward.

Weightman’s new contract, which extends for two years beyond his previous deal, effectively wards off any interest from rival clubs and aligns him with the Bulldogs for the foreseeable future. His commitment to the club and his optimistic outlook on the team’s potential adds a positive note for the Bulldogs as they aim for a strong finish to the season.
