The Chicago Sky rookie made history by becoming the first player in the WNBA to record 10 consecutive double-doubles within a single season. During her team’s 70-62 defeat against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday evening, she scored 10 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, breaking future Hall of Famer Candace Parker’s previous record of nine double-doubles set in 2015.

The 22-year-old’s mother, also named Angel, was present courtside at Wintrust Arena to witness this milestone. Throughout most of the game, it seemed uncertain whether Reese would achieve her tenth double-double. However, on the Sky’s final offensive possession, she was fouled and subsequently sent to the free-throw line.

Angel Reese’s achievement marks a significant milestone in WNBA history, emphasizing her exceptional performance and consistency as a rookie. Her record-setting performance not only highlights her individual talent but also adds a notable chapter to the legacy of the Chicago Sky. Reese’s ability to maintain such a high level of play through consecutive games demonstrates her potential to become a dominant force in the league.

Her mother’s presence at the game underscored the emotional and supportive aspect of her journey. Despite the team’s loss, Reese’s accomplishment provided a silver lining, offering a glimpse of a promising career ahead. Breaking Candace Parker’s record is a remarkable feat, particularly for a rookie, and sets high expectations for Reese’s future contributions to the team and the league.
