Andrea Iannone’s return to racing after a four-year suspension is progressing impressively, making him a notable contender in the Superbike World Championship. He has already secured podium finishes and frequently ranks among the top five riders. This strong performance has fueled speculation about his potential return to MotoGP. Iannone, who last competed in MotoGP with Aprilia in 2019, faced a controversial doping suspension which he attributed to contaminated food.

Currently associated with Ducati through Team GoEleven, Iannone’s possible return to MotoGP seems unlikely according to Davide Tardozzi, Ducati’s team manager. Tardozzi believes that due to Iannone’s age, his focus should remain on excelling in Superbikes. Despite this, Tardozzi acknowledged Iannone’s natural talent, recalling that Marc Márquez once considered Iannone his only formidable rival in Moto2, earning respect from the eight-time world champion.

Iannone and Márquez were intense competitors in Moto2 during 2011 and 2012, after previously clashing in the 125cc class. They continued their rivalry in MotoGP from 2013 until 2019. Iannone’s skill and past performances make his future in motorcycle racing a topic of interest, though a MotoGP return remains uncertain.
