Chase Elliott has climbed to the top of the NASCAR regular season points standings, a position he hasn’t held in some time, and he is determined to continue improving. This advancement is partly due to Kyle Larson experiencing a few setbacks this season, which allowed Elliott to gradually ascend to the lead.
Winning the regular season championship is significant. Over time, drivers are likely to receive more recognition for such an achievement. Additionally, it brings the benefit of 15 bonus playoff points.
Elliott is well aware of the importance of leading the standings. He aims to maintain his position ahead of his Hendrick Motorsports teammate.
“It’s nice to be leading the points,” Elliott remarked at New Hampshire, as reported by Bob Pockrass “There’s still a lot of racing left, and I believe we have room for improvement. Kyle had some bad luck last weekend, and we need to ensure we can improve our performance, gain more points, and secure our lead.”
Elliott emphasized that there are still areas where he and the team can improve. He wants to bring more speed and consistency, believing these adjustments are within reach. By building on their current foundation, he is confident they can secure their position and be in a favorable spot moving forward.
