Done Deal: Rams are in talk to sign a Super star worth $ 12.5 Million contract before the……

With over a month until NFL training camp begins, several high-profile players remain unsigned for the 2024 season. The Los Angeles Rams have limited salary cap space at $8.5 million, which is primarily reserved for in-season adjustments and possibly carrying over into 2025. However, this could still allow for some strategic signings if GM Les Snead and coach Sean McVay deem them necessary.

One potential target is Yannick Ngakoue, a seasoned defensive end who, despite playing for six teams in the last five years, has maintained impressive stats. At 29, he recorded 10 sacks with the Raiders in 2021, 9.6 with the Colts in 2022, and 4 in 13 games with the Bears in 2023. He could provide valuable rotational depth behind Chris Shula.

Jerry Hughes, at nearly 36, is another veteran option. With 9 sacks for the Texans in 2022, his production dipped to 3 sacks over 475 snaps in 2023, but he could still contribute in a rotational role. Other edge rushers like Emmanuel Ogbah, Carl Lawson, and Charles Harris are also available.

Running back Dalvin Cook, turning 29 in August, experienced a dramatic decline from 1,173 yards in 2022 to just 214 yards and no touchdowns with the Jets in 2023, making him a riskier option.

There has been considerable discussion about Johnathan Simmons joining the Rams. The team appears to be among the top contenders for his signature within the next month.

In terms of wide receivers, Julio Jones and Michael Thomas are the most notable free agents, though their current ability to contribute is questionable. Hunter Renfrow, a Pro Bowl slot receiver in 2021, is another option but may be redundant with Cooper Kupp already filling that role. The Rams might instead need an outside receiver, a role Jones and Thomas once excelled in but may no longer be capable of.

Veteran defensive tackle Linval Joseph, at 35, could serve as a mentor. Despite limited playing time, he brings extensive experience, having recently played for the Eagles and Bills, and previously for former Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley with the Chargers.

Overall, the Rams have several options to consider as they prepare for the upcoming season, balancing cap space and team needs with potential veteran signings.
