Before the Iowa race, Busch reiterated his criticism of Chastain, labeling his maneuver as reckless. Despite providing ample room for Chastain to overtake, Busch felt he was unfairly knocked out of contention due to the speed difference between their vehicles.

Busch’s 2024 season has mirrored the chaos of the Sonoma race, with frequent involvement in unfortunate incidents.
