Queensland fullback Reece Walsh will miss Brisbane’s next two games following a head injury sustained early in the Origin series opener. Walsh was ruled out despite passing a head injury assessment in the sheds after being hit high by Blues centre Joseph Sua’ali’i, who was sent off for the tackle.

 

Broncos coach Kevin Walters confirmed that Walsh will miss the Round 14 match against the Sharks and the Round 15 game against the Rabbitohs, but he is expected to be fit for Origin Game Two after the Broncos’ bye in Round 16. Walters stated that all other Origin players would be available to play.

 

In other injury news, Wests Tigers winger Solomon Alaimalo exited the game against the Dragons with a head knock. The Cowboys lost Maroons winger Murray Taulagi (shoulder) and Blues hooker Reece Robson (neck) for their Round 14 match against the Warriors. Jordan McLean is also out with a calf injury but expected back next week.

 

Panthers’ Liam Martin is sidelined with an ankle injury with no set return date. The Eels’ Bailey Simonsson is out for the season with a torn ACL requiring surgery. Ryan Matterson is progressing well from headaches and needs a full week of contact training before returning.

 

The Sharks’ Teig Wilton is out with an AC joint injury, and Nicho Hynes will rest his calf injury. Titans’ Jayden Campbell is nearing a return from a knee injury, with Kieran Foran, Phil Sami, and Jojo Fifita set to return in Round 14. Souths’ Cody Walker is back from a calf injury for their game against the Rabbitohs.
