Tragic News: Justin Simmons opens up on biggest disappointment via salary reduction worth $18.25 million with Broncos….

Former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons is currently on the lookout for his next NFL opportunity, but he’s still spending time in Denver. Recently, Simmons was seen attending Nuggets playoff games and participated in a charity event hosted by star cornerback Pat Surtain II.

The Broncos released Simmons on March 7, effectively removing his $18.25 million salary from their 2024 budget. This move was necessary as the team needed cap space after incurring the largest dead cap hit in NFL history by releasing quarterback Russell Wilson. Over his eight seasons with Denver, Simmons accumulated impressive stats with 30 interceptions, over 600 tackles, and two Pro Bowl selections. Despite his individual success, the team has not returned to the playoffs since winning Super Bowl 50 the year before Simmons joined.

Reflecting on his tenure with the Broncos, Simmons expressed disappointment in not being able to help the team reach the postseason. He acknowledged that football is a team sport and that he couldn’t play all positions. While Simmons was a standout player, the team, particularly at the quarterback position, lacked the necessary components for success.

Despite these challenges, Simmons remains optimistic about the Broncos’ future, confident that the team will make the playoffs again thanks to the great players, leadership, and coaching staff. Simmons expressed excitement for his former teammates and their potential for success.

Since joining the Broncos in 2016, which was the only season they had a winning record during his tenure, the team has endured seven consecutive losing seasons. This experience was undoubtedly tough on Simmons, though he was not to blame. Now, Simmons is awaiting a call from a new team, ideally a contender, to finally experience postseason football.
