The Packers had to release the player after they were injured.
According to reports, a second-year wide receiver in the NFL has announced their retirement following an injury sustained while playing for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers had to release the player after they were injured earlier in the offseason.
Thyrick Pitts Jr. was signed by the Green Bay Packers in December, as stated on the team’s website. Pitts, a standout in college, was initially signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent from the University of Delaware in May 2023. Following his release by the Bears and a brief stint with the New England Patriots, he joined the Packers. In college, Pitts had an impressive record, playing in 59 games and making 172 receptions for 2,429 yards and 23 touchdowns. He received various All-CAA honors during his college career.
The team subsequently waived him from injured reserve with an injury settlement. The exact nature of Pitts’ injury remains unclear.
