Aaron Rodgers wants zero distractions for the Jets in 2024 | The Herd.
Aaron Rodgers expressed enthusiasm about the New York Jets being featured prominently in prime-time games throughout the 2024 NFL season. In an interview with SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio, Rodgers embraced the spotlight, acknowledging the team’s appeal as “must-watch TV.” He emphasized their status as a compelling team, regardless of personal opinions about him, and welcomed the challenge of playing in six prime-time matchups within the first part of the season.
The Jets’ allocation of six prime-time games equals the highest number in the league for the season, rivaled only by the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. Rodgers pointed out that these games, occurring before their Week 12 bye, offer an early platform for the team to showcase their abilities. Notably, the Jets’ previous season was marred by Rodgers’ early-season injury, altering expectations and resulting in a less competitive performance in prime-time slots.
Regarding the decision to feature the Jets frequently in prime time again, NFL broadcast executive Mike North suggested it’s partly due to Rodgers’ return and the narrative surrounding it. However, Rodgers himself disagreed with the notion that the team “owes” the league, emphasizing the upcoming season’s potential for redemption and strong performances.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Rodgers expressed confidence in the Jets’ competitiveness, especially with his return to full health. The team made strategic offseason moves to bolster their offense, including notable signings and draft picks aimed at supporting Rodgers and enhancing their overall performance.
