Report: Napoli may have the financial muscle to beat Spurs to 26-year-old target

Napoli are reportedly in negotiations to sign Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A club is exploring a deal for the 26-year-old, who has impressed throughout the season at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Gudmundsson’s performances have garnered attention from several top European clubs.

Last week, La Repubblica, via Calciomercato, reported that Tottenham is competing with West Ham, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Napoli for Gudmundsson. Gazzetta’s latest update indicates that Napoli has initiated contact with Genoa to ascertain Gudmundsson’s transfer fee, which Genoa has set at a minimum of €30 million (£25.5 million). This valuation is reportedly within reach for Napoli, especially if they proceed with the sale of Victor Osimhen, which would provide substantial funds.

From Tottenham’s perspective, if Gudmundsson is a priority for manager Ange Postecoglou, it is anticipated that the club will soon begin concrete efforts to secure his signature. One potential strategy could be to incorporate Gudmundsson into ongoing negotiations with Genoa over Djed Spence, leveraging these discussions to facilitate a deal for the Icelandic forward.
