SAD NEWS: Ipswich Town owner Ed Sheeran appoint formal Nottingham forest coach as Ipswich town head coach following departure of Kieran McKenna to Brighton

Ipswich Town’s unexpected rise from mid-table League One to the Premier League in just two years may see some players left behind, with forward Kayden Jackson likely among them. Jackson joined Ipswich from Accrington Stanley in 2018 and has experienced both League One and Championship play with the club. However, despite this long tenure, he has not always been a regular starter.

Last season highlighted Jackson’s peripheral role, with only nine starts in the Championship as teammates like Conor Chaplin and Wes Burns moved ahead in the lineup. The arrival of Kieffer Moore, Jeremy Sarmiento, and Ali Al-Hamadi further pushed him down the pecking order. Although Jackson made 38 league appearances in 2022/23, his best goal-scoring season was in 2019/20 with 11 goals and seven assists in League One.

As Ipswich looks to strengthen their squad for the Premier League, Jackson’s chances of playing in the top flight are slim, especially with his contract ending and unlikely to be renewed. A move back to the Championship seems the best option for Jackson, providing a fresh start and more playing opportunities.
