News Now: A Giants-Cardinals trade to give San Francisco a closer St. Louis a fresh start due to….

The San Francisco Giants are showing signs of improvement and are now just one game away from securing a spot in the Wild Card race. In contrast, while the St. Louis Cardinals have been playing better recently, they are still likely to be sellers as the trade deadline approaches. With summer nearing, the trading season is about to begin.

One player from the Cardinals who might attract significant interest, especially from the Giants, is right-handed pitcher and former All-Star closer Ryan Helsley. Helsley has been one of the most effective closers in baseball this season, boasting an impressive 1.29 ERA over 21 appearances. A trade involving Helsley could be beneficial for both teams. Jim Bowden of The Athletic has also identified Helsley as one of the Cardinals players most likely to be traded by the July 30 deadline.
