Among the many developing storylines, one crucial battle could significantly influence the series’ outcome and determine who advances to the Stanley Cup Final. This pivotal contest involves two standout forwards: Mika Zibanejad of the Rangers and Aleksander Barkov of the Panthers.
Mika Zibanejad has long been recognized as one of the premier two-way forwards in the NHL, though his highest finish for the Frank J. Selke Trophy, awarded to the league’s best defensive forward, was 15th during the 2021-22 season. In contrast, Aleksander Barkov has just secured his second Selke Trophy, previously winning in the 2020-21 season. Barkov has consistently been a top defensive center since his debut in the 2013-14 season.
