The Detroit Lions are set to lose a key member of their front office, as Brandon Sosna, their senior director of football administration, has been appointed the Washington Commanders’ new senior vice president of football operations. Sosna, who has served as the Lions’ lead contract negotiator for over a year, has received commendation from General Manager Brad Holmes for his impressive work during the free agency periods of the last two years. Holmes highlighted Sosna’s exceptional growth and ability to secure crucial deals, noting how he effectively managed communications and negotiations alongside Mike Disner.

 

Disner, who was elevated to chief operating officer in May 2022, worked closely with Sosna since he joined the team from USC. Sosna played a significant role in managing the Lions’ salary cap and successfully negotiated long-term contracts for key players like Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Penei Sewell during the current offseason.

 

Holmes elaborated on their collaborative working relationship, emphasizing Sosna’s elite communication skills and proactive approach.
