Georgia Bulldogs running back Andrew Paul has announced his transfer to Jacksonville State after two seasons with the team. The spring transfer portal period wasn’t particularly busy for college football overall, but the Georgia Bulldogs were active, experiencing both departures and arrivals. Paul’s departure is noteworthy given his promising start at Georgia.
When Paul first joined the Bulldogs, he garnered attention for his consistent performance during spring practices. Unfortunately, a knee injury during his true freshman season delayed his debut. In 2023, Paul managed to record 29 attempts for 129 yards and three touchdowns. He also impressed during this year’s spring scrimmage before deciding to enter the transfer portal.
Georgia’s offseason moves included bringing in former Florida running back, adding depth and experience to the running back group. This acquisition, while beneficial for the team, contributed to Paul being pushed further down the depth chart. Additionally, Branson Robinson’s expected return from a knee injury will further bolster the running back room.
Besides Paul, other players who entered the transfer portal from Georgia during the spring window include wide receivers Braxton Hicks and Tyler Williams. On the acquisition side, Georgia added former Arizona State quarterback Jaden Rashada, aiming to reach their goal of having four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.
These movements highlight Georgia’s dynamic approach to maintaining a strong and competitive team, despite the challenges posed by injuries and player transfers. As Paul transitions to Jacksonville State, he carries with him the potential that initially excited the Georgia coaching staff and fans. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs continue to adapt and strengthen their roster in preparation for future seasons.
