Excellent News: A crucial player from the Providence has returned….

Kim English and his team landed a significant recruit for the 2025 class as highly touted forward Jamier Jones committed to Providence on a Sunday afternoon. Hailing from Bradenton, Florida, Jones stands at 6’6 and weighs 210 pounds, showcasing versatility as a small forward. English had been actively pursuing Jones, who had been on the Friars’ radar for quite some time. Jones made his official visit to Providence on November 11 and attended a game against Milwaukee, maintaining a prominent position on English’s wish list.

After narrowing down his choices to six finalists, Jones ultimately chose Providence over LSU, South Carolina, Kansas, Ohio State, and Houston. He expressed his affinity for the Providence coaching staff, particularly noting the strong bond forged since his 10th-grade year. Jones’ commitment is a significant win for Providence, as he ranks 22nd in the 247Sports composite for the Class of 2025, making him the highest-ranked recruit for the Friars since Kris Dunn and Ricky Ledo in 2012.

Jones showcased his talent while playing for Oak Ridge High in Orlando, averaging impressive statistics of 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 3.3 steals per game with a remarkable 68% shooting accuracy. His contributions helped Oak Ridge clinch the Iolani Classic championship in Hawaii and secure a 7th-place national ranking in the MaxPreps poll. Despite a loss in the Class 7A state championship game, Jones’ performance garnered attention, especially his exceptional athleticism and driving ability.

Described as a dynamic player with incredible athleticism, Jones excels as a downhill driver with strong finishing skills and a developing jump shot. His prowess was evident in tournaments such as the Memphis EYBL, where he impressed scouts with his dunking ability and versatility on both ends of the floor. Additionally, his performance at the USA Basketball Junior National Team camp showcased his athleticism and improved skills, affirming his potential as a high-impact player at the collegiate level.

Jones’ commitment signals the beginning of what could be a stellar 2025 class for Providence, with other notable prospects like Jaylen Harrell and Jalen Reece also on the radar. With a strong recruiting focus and promising talent pool, Providence aims to build a formidable team for the future.
