Arch Manning Enters Transfer Portal, Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore set negotiate deal….

Asterisk talk for Michigan football is ‘weak’ sauce, plus more
Last week, Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith was on the radio sounding like a message board poster when he said that the Michigan football wins over Ohio State the past three seasons deserved an “asterisk.”

Smith said “Of course I do,” when asked if the Michigan Wolverines win streak should have an asterisk. It was another pathetic moment for a program that just can’t accept reality.

Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports called out Smith for his comments on a recent college football podcast. Here’s what he said
“Calling for an asterisk on this is weak sauce. Just come back and beat them. It is weak sauce. It is the same thing as declaring your team is as tough as can be because you beat Notre Dame and 10 guys in September.”

We can all remember Ryan Day saying he had a “tough” team after beating Notre Dame and calling out an 80-year-old man. His team didn’t look very tough in Ann Arbor though. In fact, it was the same story since 2021. Michigan football runs the ball better and has a better defense. That’s why it won the game.

Urban Meyer’s teams were tougher back in the day. The Buckeyes used to own the line of scrimmage in ths rivalry but they don’t anymore and until that changes, the results might not either.
Speaking of Michigan football vs. Ohio State, the Wolverines and Buckeyes will meet at the same time on the same channel in 2024. Fox Sports announced that the Michgan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes will be featured on Big Noon Kickoff, which means a 12 PM EST Kickoff game on Fox.
Trente Jones, who started all three postseason games for Michigan football this past season, has retired from the NFL according to the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers signed Jones as a rookie free agent after the NFL draft. On Monday, they put him on the reserve/retired list. They still own his rights if he decides to play in the league again. They could put him back on their roster or release him.
I thought Jones had a decent shot to make the Packers 53-man roster. He’s a versatile offensive lineman who is a stellar run blocker. We’ll see if he returns to football, but Michigan football wouldn’t have won the national title without him.
