West Brom’s performance at home in the Championship has been quite impressive lately, with just one loss in their last six home games. However, Southampton emerged victorious in both league encounters during the regular season. Considering this, a recommended betting option is backing over 10.5 corners.

As they host Southampton in the first leg of the Championship play-off semi-final, West Brom aims to leverage their home advantage. Despite finishing 12 points behind Southampton, Carlos Corberan’s side remains optimistic, especially given their resilience on home turf.

West Brom will be without midfielder Jayson Molumby due to a season-ending foot injury. Additionally, striker Daryl Dike is sidelined until the end of the month with an Achilles injury. However, Jed Wallace and John Swift are hopeful of making a return to the starting lineup.

Southampton coach Russell Martin awaits a fitness test for Che Adams. While Ross Stewart is expected to be included on the bench after a season mostly spent in rehabilitation, Stuart Armstrong, Juan Larios, and Gavin Bazunu are sidelined.

After a three-game losing streak, West Brom bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Preston on the final day of the regular season. Their home record shows resilience, with only one loss in their last six games and just two defeats in front of their home fans in their last nine matches. However, one of those losses was against Southampton, where they fell 2-0.

Although Southampton ended a run of three consecutive defeats with a 2-1 win against Leeds, their away form has been concerning. The victory against Leeds marked their first away win since the beginning of March.

Given the unpredictability of play-off games and the teams’ mixed form, focusing on corners could be a prudent approach. Both Southampton and West Brom have been prolific in winning corners throughout the season. Southampton secured 907 corners in 46 games, just two more than West Brom. Previous encounters between the teams saw a high number of corners, with an average of 11.43 corners per match involving Southampton and 10.91 corners per match involving West Brom.

Considering both teams’ reliance on set-pieces, betting on the overs line for corners appears to be a sensible choice for match.
