Ryan Ramczyk and the New Orleans Saints have recently reached an agreement to revise his contract for the upcoming season. In this restructured deal, Ramczyk is guaranteed $6.5 million, a notable adjustment. However, the majority of the revisions come in the form of potential bonuses, which could total up to $9 million.
Throughout his career, Ramczyk has earned various accolades, including a spot on the 2017 All-Rookie Team and being named a 1st Team All-Pro in 2019. From 2017 to 2021, he was widely regarded as one of the league’s premier right tackles and among the top offensive linemen overall. During this period, he started in 70 out of 71 games, including playoff appearances.
Despite his remarkable durability, Ramczyk faced challenges in the latter part of the 2021 season due to knee issues, which limited his mobility and practice time. In the 2022 season, he missed only one game but struggled with his once-elite agility. In the most recent season, he appeared in just 12 games, sitting out the final four matches.
Reports circulating during the offseason have raised concerns about Ramczyk’s knee condition, suggesting that he might not be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season, or worse, could potentially miss the entire year, casting doubts on the trajectory of his career. In response to these uncertainties, the Saints utilized their first-round draft pick to select Taliese Fuaga, an offensive tackle from Oregon State. Fuaga, known for his versatility, is expected to contribute significantly to the team, potentially filling in at the right tackle position if needed.
