In Athens, Georgia, several football players from the University of Georgia collaborated with the College Football Playoff Foundation to donate a total of $40,000 to benefit schools in the local community.
Wide receiver Arian Smith, linebacker Jalon Walker, safety Malaki Starks, and running back Trevor Etienne took part in this initiative, visiting Barnett Shoals Elementary, Gaines Elementary, Hillsman Middle, and Whit Davis Elementary. At each location, they distributed $10,000 to support the schools and individual teachers.
The Bulldogs’ involvement extended beyond monetary contributions as they also lent their support to educators through the Georgia Teachers Initiative. This program, established by the CFP Foundation and Atlanta Football Host Committee, is designed to foster connections, celebrate, and provide resources for teachers across all grade levels in Georgia.
The ambitious target of engaging one-third of all educators statewide by 2025, the initiative has committed substantial resources to education, providing grants, educational materials, and recognition events. Educators interested in staying informed and participating can connect with the online community at GeorgiaTeachersInitiative.org, where they can access the most recent updates and opportunities available.
