Former NFL player Bashaud Breeland was arrested again, marking the second time in less than a year. This time, the former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back faced charges related to drugs, with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police discovering narcotics and multiple firearms in his possession.
According to reports from The Charlotte Observer, police encountered resistance while attempting to make the arrest. Breeland now confronts felony drug charges alongside allegations of assaulting a government official, resisting an officer, and causing injury to personal and property.
During the recent incident, authorities found marijuana, a plastic bag containing mushrooms, five bottles of promethazine hydrochloride (used for motion sickness), and dihidrocodeina bitartrate, a synthetic opioid analgesic for moderate to severe pain. This arrest comes on the heels of Breeland’s previous encounter with the law in August, where he was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, guns, and drugs. The charges from that incident included eight counts, such as altering serial numbers and titles.
Breeland, a former Super Bowl LIV champion, was drafted in the fourth round by Washington from Clemson University in 2014. After four seasons with Washington, he spent a year with the Green Bay Packers before joining the Kansas City Chiefs for two seasons. His last stint in the NFL was with the Minnesota Vikings in the 2021 season. Although he signed with the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in early 2022, he never made an appearance for them.
